Toward the Rapid Diagnosis of Sepsis: Detecting Interleukin-6 in Blood Plasma Using Functionalized Screen-Printed Electrodes with a Thermal Detection Methodology

Robert D. Crapnell et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the successful detection of the inflammatory and sepsis-related biomarker IL-6 in human blood plasma using functionalized SPEs and the HTM method. The system showed high sensitivity and selectivity in detecting IL-6 in PBS buffer, making it suitable for diagnostic applications in sepsis and other conditions.

Electropolymerised molecularly imprinted polymers for the heat-transfer based detection of microorganisms: A proof-of-concept study using yeast

O. Jamieson et al.

Summary: This study investigated the electropolymerisation of molecularly imprinted polymers on screen-printed carbon electrodes for the development of specific sensors for thermal detection of yeast. Different electropolymerisation methods resulted in distinct polymer structures, enabling the rapid production of low-cost electrodes. The research demonstrated the potential of this approach for thermal detection of yeast and highlighted its commercial viability.
