A guide to: generation and design of nanobodies

Serge Muyldermans

Summary: Nanobodies, a trademark of Ablynx, are single antigen-binding domains of heavy chain-only antibodies in Camelidae produced recombinantly for research and medical applications. Various methods are used for their generation, producing cost-effective Nbs with high affinity for their target antigens. Additionally, engineering technologies have been explored to broaden the application range of Nbs for potential advantages over other affinity reagents.

Bacteriophage-based advanced bacterial detection: Concept, mechanisms, and applications

Wajid Hussain et al.

Summary: Early detection of bacterial pathogens at key interfaces is crucial in minimizing the risk of bacterial diseases. Traditional detection methods are laborious, while molecular diagnostic tools offer more accuracy and sensitivity. Bacteriophages as biorecognition elements have the potential to develop cost-effective, specific, quick, sensitive, and reliable platforms for bacterial pathogen detection.

Selection of specific nanobodies to develop an immuno-assay detecting Staphylococcus aureus in milk

Yaozhong Hu et al.

Summary: In this study, specific nanobodies recognizing Staphylococcus aureus were selected and an immuno-assay was established to detect S. aureus contaminations in foods, with a detection limit of 10 CFU/mL in milk samples. This research provides a basis for an easy, reproducible and effective immuno-assay for screening S. aureus contaminations in foods.
