The timing of venous thromboembolism in ovarian cancer patients: A nationwide Danish cohort study

Henriette Strom Kahr et al.

Summary: The study found that patients with epithelial ovarian cancer are at high risk of VTE, especially within the first year after diagnosis. Major pelvic surgery and chemotherapy were strongly associated with VTE risk, while person-related risk factors included increasing age and previous VTE. These findings support the indication for thrombosis prophylaxis during chemotherapy.

Procoagulant activity in high grade serous ovarian cancer patients following neoadjuvant chemotherapy-The role of the activated protein C pathway

Mark P. Ward et al.

Summary: During neoadjuvant chemotherapy in ovarian cancer patients, dysregulation of the activated protein C (aPC) pathway may lead to increased procoagulant activity, with higher levels of ETP and peak thrombin, indicating increased aPC resistance compared to patients with benign tumors. Additionally, neoadjuvant chemotherapy alters the expression of specific proteins in ovarian cancer cells.
