Summary: The water-soluble nitrogen-doped carbon dots (N-CDs) are developed through a pyrolysis process and are used for the fluorometric detection of dopamine (DA). The N-CDs exhibit high selectivity and sensitivity towards DA, with a detection limit of 0.2 nM. Additionally, the N-CDs can be utilized for multicolor cellular imaging and as a fluorescent ink for information storage.
