Bubble-Propelled Janus Gallium/Zinc Micromotors for the Active Treatment of Bacterial Infections

Zhihua Lin et al.

Summary: This study presents a bubble-propelled Janus gallium/zinc (Ga/Zn) micromotor with good biocompatibility and biodegradability, which can actively target bacteria for treatment. The micromotors exhibit self-propulsion in simulated gastroenteric acid and enhanced antibacterial efficiency against H. pylori compared to passive Ga microparticles. The Ga/Zn micromotors combine self-propulsion, biocompatibility, biodegradability, and Ga-based antibacterial properties, showing promise for active treatment of bacterial infections.

Mini/Micro/Nano Scale Liquid Metal Motors

Li Liu et al.

Summary: Liquid metal (LM) motors have shown considerable potential in advancing swimming motors due to their unique features such as fluidity, softness, reconfigurability, stimuli responsiveness, and good biocompatibility. LM motors can achieve directional motion and deformation, providing new and unique capabilities to the field of swimming motors. This review aims to provide an overview of recent advances in LM motors and compare differences in LM macro and micromotors in terms of fabrication, propulsion, and application.

Self-adaptive enzyme-powered micromotors with switchable propulsion mechanism and motion directionality

Youzeng Feng et al.

Summary: This study developed an artificial enzyme-powered micromotor that can autonomously regulate propulsion mechanism and motion directionality by sensing the change of fuel concentration, achieving positive and negative chemotaxis. The micromotors show highly enhanced migration speed and easily functionalized outer surface, suitable for biomedical applications.
