Strong tough hydrogels via the synergy of freeze-casting and salting out

Mutian Hua et al.

Summary: A strategy combining freeze-casting and salting-out treatments produces poly(vinyl alcohol) hydrogels with a multi-length-scale hierarchical architecture, including micrometre-scale honeycomb-like pore walls and interconnected nanofibril meshes. These hydrogels have properties that compare favorably to other tough hydrogels and even natural tendons.

Superprotonic Conductivity of MOF-808 Achieved by Controlling the Binding Mode of Grafted Sulfamate

Amitosh Sharma et al.

Summary: By modulating the binding mode of the sulfamate moieties in a metal-organic framework, MOF-808-4SA-150 achieves superprotonic conductivity with a proton conductivity more than 30 times higher than MOF-808-4SA-60. The superprotonic conductivity is well maintained over 1000 cycles of measurements and for seven days of cyclic measurements.
