Decomposition of the Simulant 2-Chloroethyl Ethyl Sulfide Blister Agent under Ambient Conditions Using Metal-Organic Frameworks

Hong-Hyun Kim et al.

Summary: Metal organic frameworks (MOFs), especially UiO-66 and its variant UiO-66S, show promising potential for gas-phase decontamination of both nerve agents and blister agents. The gas-phase chemical adsorption and decomposition of 2-chloroethyl ethyl sulfide (2-CEES) by UiO-66S have been demonstrated for the first time, with an estimated half-life of 1.34 hours, the highest reported value for an MOF in such conditions. This study provides important insights into the use of UiO-66S as a future decontaminant for toxic chemical agents.

In-situ synthesis of carbon dot at cellulose nanofiber for durable water treatment membrane with high selectivity

Jungbin Ahn et al.

Summary: In this study, carbon dots were synthesized and attached to cellulose nanofibers via a hydrothermal process, resulting in a composite material with enhanced properties for water treatment applications. The novel method of enveloping CD on CNF surfaces shows promising potential for durable membrane fabrication and selective removal of contaminants.
