Visual cognition associated with knee proprioception, time to stability, and sensory integration neural activity after ACL reconstruction

Meredith Chaput et al.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the relationship between visual cognitive function and neuromuscular control, strength, and subjective function after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR). Results showed a negative association between visual memory/visual motor ability and proprioception error/TTS in the ACLR group but not in controls. Furthermore, visual cognition was associated with increased neural activity in specific brain regions in the ACLR group, suggesting a potential link between visual cognition and neural compensatory strategies for motor control in ACL-reconstructed individuals.

Postural stability during visual-based cognitive and motor dual-tasks after ACLR

Sarah C. Miko et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the impact of visual-based motor and cognitive dual tasking on postural stability in individuals with anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction. The results indicated that postural stability was significantly impaired under eyes-closed and dual-motor conditions, with reconstructed individuals exhibiting greater instability during the dual-cognitive condition.

Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness (DOMS): The Repeated Bout Effect and Chemotherapy-Induced Axonopathy May Help Explain the Dying-Back Mechanism in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis and Other Neurodegenerative Diseases

Balazs Sonkodi

Summary: Delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS) and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) are proposed to be caused by acute compression axonopathy of sensory afferents in the muscle spindle, possibly due to genetic/environmental factors, damaging contractions, and neuroinflammatory processes. The dysfunctional microcircuits in these diseases can affect memory and learning, ultimately interfering with life-sustaining central pattern generators in ALS.

Knee position at the moment of bone bruise could reflect the late phase of non-contact anterior cruciate ligament injury rather than the mechanisms leading to ligament failure

Alberto Grassi et al.

Summary: The study used MRI and RSA to analyze knee position at the time of bone bruise in patients, finding that these positions deviated from the normal biomechanics of flexion-extension of the knee joint.
