Improved performance of high-voltage Li-ion batteries using a novel chemically activated coating process

Summary: A new hydrogen peroxide method was used to prepare aluminium oxide-coated spinel LiNi0.5Mn1.5O4 cathode material, followed by calcination at different temperatures. The structural and electrochemical properties of the cathodes were investigated, revealing that temperature treatment affects the structure and charge-discharge performance of the spinel phase. Additional insights on local Al and Li ions arrangements were obtained from Al-27 and Li-7 MAS NMR spectra.
