The effect of professional education on medical and nursing students' attitudes toward death

Summary: This qualitative study examines the influence of professional education on medical and nursing students' attitudes toward death. Data collection involved semi-structured interviews and focus group interviews with 197 students. Thematic analysis was used to evaluate the data, revealing themes related to perception of death, ethical dilemmas, and death education. The study emphasizes the importance of establishing a common educational curriculum and practice to develop a mutual language and value system about death, thereby achieving professional competency in attitudes toward death.

What do teachers think of death education?

The inclusion of death in the curriculum of the Spanish Regions

Summary: This study aims to investigate the extent and manner in which the notion of death is included in the laws regulating school curricula in Spain and its Autonomous Regions, and to compare the differences and similarities among the Regions. The findings show that death is addressed in all stages of education, but without a planned and deliberate pattern. Different sensitivities regarding the issue are observed among the Autonomous Regions.
