Association of Body Weight Change and Fluid Balance With Extubation Failure in Intensive Care Unit Patients: A Single-Center Observational Study

Shota Maezawa et al.

Summary: The study found that a larger fluid balance within 24 hours before extubation is associated with extubation failure. However, fluid balance within 48 hours before extubation, cumulative fluid balance, and body weight change did not significantly affect extubation failure.

A Machine-Learning Approach for Dynamic Prediction of Sepsis-Induced Coagulopathy in Critically Ill Patients With Sepsis

Qin-Yu Zhao et al.

Summary: By utilizing machine-learning models, we developed two models that could dynamically predict the risk of SIC in septic patients, demonstrating better performance compared to conventional Logistic Regression and SIC scores.

A Machine Learning decision-making tool for extubation in Intensive Care Unit patients

Alexandre Fabregat et al.

Summary: Using machine learning models can accurately predict the outcome of extubation for critically ill patients on invasive mechanical ventilation, with a Support Vector Machine classifier achieving 94.6% accuracy. Compared to current decision-making criteria, the classifier predictors require less data and can enhance the quality and accuracy of extubation decisions.

A simple nomogram for predicting failure of non-invasive respiratory strategies in adults with COVID-19: a retrospective multicentre study

Ling Liu et al.

Summary: A study in China developed a nomogram and online calculator to identify patients with COVID-19 at risk of NIRS failure, which may benefit from early triage and more intensive monitoring. The predictors of NIRS failure were determined based on a training cohort, and the nomogram showed good predictive ability with stable C-statistic values in both internal and external validation.
