N-docosahexaenoylethanolamine reduces neuroinflammation and cognitive impairment after mild traumatic brain injury in rats

Arina Ponomarenko et al.

Summary: The results of this study demonstrate that DHEA has the potential to promote cognitive recovery in rats with mild traumatic brain injury by inhibiting pro-inflammatory microglial cells activity, reducing levels of pro-inflammatory markers, and increasing production of anti-inflammatory cells and antioxidant enzymes. This suggests that DHEA has a complex effect on neuroinflammation processes, highlighting its therapeutic potential.
