Conformational rearrangement during activation of a metabotropic glutamate receptor

Brandon Wey-Hung Liauw et al.

Summary: This study reveals that mGluR2 interconverts between different conformational states and activation proceeds through a conformational selection mechanism. Intermediate states act as conformational checkpoints for activation and modulate signaling. The conformation of ligand-binding domains and downstream domains are weakly coupled.
