Investigation on the strength, durability and swelling of cement- solidified dredged sludge admixed fly ash and nano-SiO2

Lei Lang et al.

Summary: This study investigates the effectiveness of using fly ash and nano-SiO2 blended with Portland cement for solidifying dredged sludge. The results show that the addition of fly ash and nano-SiO2 can significantly improve the strength and water resistance of the sludge, and reduce its water absorption and swelling. SEM and XRD analysis confirm the formation of cementitious products in the solidified sludge.

Mechanical and Microstructural Properties of Alkali Wastes as Filling Materials for Abandoned Salt Caverns

Jie Yang et al.

Summary: This study investigated the microstructural and mechanical properties of alkali solid waste from soda industries when filled into abandoned salt caverns. The research findings showed significant variations in the basic physical characteristics, microstructure, mineral compositions, and mechanical properties of alkali wastes at different burial depths. The strength properties of alkali wastes were found to be similar to those of sandstone-mudstone mixtures and tailings, which can provide valuable insights for similar filling projects and the cyclic utilization of alkali wastes.
