Predictors ofCOVID-19 severity: A literature review

Benjamin Gallo Marin et al.

Summary: The severity and mortality of COVID-19 may be associated with patient age, multiple comorbidities, hypoxia, extensive lung involvement on CT scans, laboratory abnormalities, and biomarkers of end-organ dysfunction.

Anti-IL6 treatment of serious COVID-19 disease A monocentric retrospective experience

Laura Castelnovo et al.

Summary: Tocilizumab and sarilumab may be effective in treating COVID-19 pneumonia, reducing mortality rates. Anti-IL6 drugs can decrease inflammation levels, shorten hospitalization times, and reduce the risk of death from multi-organ failure. However, further research is needed to determine the optimal treatment timing.

Tocilizumab in Patients Hospitalized with Covid-19 Pneumonia

Carlos Salama et al.

Summary: Among hospitalized patients with Covid-19 pneumonia not on mechanical ventilation, tocilizumab reduced the risk of progression to mechanical ventilation or death, but did not improve overall survival. There were no new safety concerns identified.

Effect of tocilizumab on clinical outcomes at 15 days in patients with severe or critical coronavirus disease 2019: randomised controlled trial

Viviane C. Veiga et al.

Summary: The study found that in patients with severe or critical COVID-19, tocilizumab in combination with standard care was not superior to standard care alone in improving clinical outcomes at 15 days, and it might increase mortality.

SARS-CoV-2 Epitope Mapping on Microarrays Highlights Strong Immune-Response to N Protein Region

Angelo Musico et al.

Summary: A workflow for rapid epitope discovery of SARS-CoV-2 on peptide microarrays was reported, leading to the identification of immunodominant regions on the spike, nucleocapsid, and Orf1ab proteins. The epitope of N protein's region 155-171 showed good diagnostic performance in discriminating Covid-19 positive individuals, with 92% sensitivity and 100% specificity for IgG detection. This epitope represents a promising candidate for further development and rapid implementation in serological tests.

Role of IgG against N-protein of SARS-CoV2 in COVID19 clinical outcomes

Mayank Batra et al.

Summary: This study found that titers of IgG targeting N-protein of SARS-CoV2 at admission are related to the clinical course of the disease. Higher CCI and IL6 levels were independently associated with in-hospital mortality while maintaining a high S/Co ratio (>1.5) also led to MICU admission and longer hospital stays.
