A Prognostic Prediction Model of Transarterial Radioembolization in Hepatocellular Carcinoma: SNAP-HCC

Joon Yeul Nam et al.

Summary: A prognostic model based on the SNAP-HCC scoring system was developed to predict the outcome of HCC patients undergoing TARE as an initial treatment. The model incorporates four independent risk factors and was validated using the bootstrap method. Patients with SNAP-HCC scores < 3 had significantly longer overall survival compared to those with scores >= 3, indicating the potential utility of this scoring system in treatment planning for HCC patients.

Correlation of Y90-absorbed radiation dose to pathological necrosis in hepatocellular carcinoma: confirmatory multicenter analysis in 45 explants

Ahmed Gabr et al.

Summary: The study showed that higher absorbed perfused liver doses using Y90 radioembolization were associated with a higher rate of complete pathologic necrosis in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients. Lower doses, on the other hand, were more likely to result in partial or extensive necrosis.

Summary: The study evaluated the potential of imaging criteria in predicting overall survival of HCC patients after TARE treatment. The results showed that RECIST and mRECIST were the best compromise between reproducibility and ability to predict overall survival.

Safety and efficacy of repeat Y90 radioembolization to the same hepatic arterial territory

Wali Badar et al.

Summary: Repeat TARE with glass microspheres is an effective and safe treatment strategy for disease management in patients with residual or recurrent disease to the similar hepatic arterial territories without any major treatment related toxicity. This study demonstrates that repeat treatment to the same hepatic arterial territory is as safe as single treatment to the same territory.

Deciphering Liver Imaging After Interventional Oncology Treatments for Hepatocellular Carcinoma

Parag Amin et al.

Summary: Cirrhotic patients require frequent imaging surveillance and treatment for HCC, with radiologists playing a crucial role in ensuring timely and appropriate treatment. However, the heterogeneity of cirrhotic liver on imaging and the range of post-LRT findings can complicate posttreatment image interpretation. This article reviews expected MRI and CT findings after LRT in this patient population.
