The research indicates that PEGT1% performs excellently as a corrosion inhibitor for mild steel in 1M HCl, showing better corrosion protection compared to PEGT3%. Principal component analysis revealed that surface area and activity per site were the most important factors in the corrosion rate study.
Two poly (ethylene glycol)-tyrosine hybrid polymers (PEGT1% and PEGT3%) were used to inhibit the corrosion of mild steel in 1 M HCl. In this work, surface plot investigations which employed several mapped sites, pixel coordinates, ideal spread function, and 3D -luminance plots were used to monitor the corrosion performances of the two green hybrid polymers designed. Principal Component Analysis (PCA) statistics showed that surface area and activity per site with eigenvalues of 0.977 were the most important factor in the corrosion rate study. Weight loss and electrochemical studies showed that PEGT1% performed excellently as a corrosion inhibitor compared to PEGT3%. (c) 2021 The Authors. Published by Elsevier B.V.
