Impaired Activated/Memory Regulatory T Cell Clonal Expansion Instigates Diabetes in NOD Mice

Vanessa Mhanna et al.

Summary: The study reveals that the diversity of activated/memory Treg and effector T cell repertoires in NOD mice is significantly higher than in normal mice, and administration of IL-2 can restore expansions of these clonotypes and prevent diabetes development. IL-2-expanded T cell repertoires are enriched with islet-antigen specific TCRs.
