Flexible Sample Environment for the Investigation of Soft Matter at the European Spallation Source: Part II-The GISANS Setup

Tobias Widmann et al.

Summary: The FlexiProb project is a collaboration between three soft matter groups at universities in Germany with scientific support from various institutions. They developed a flexible sample carrier system for small-angle neutron scattering at the ESS and a sample environment for studying soft matter thin films with GISANS. Test experiments proved the concept and functionality of the setup.

Flexible Sample Environments for the Investigation of Soft Matter at the European Spallation Source: Part I-The In Situ SANS/DLS Setup

Andreas Josef Schmid et al.

Summary: In order to exploit the potential of the new European Spallation Source in Lund, researchers have developed plug and play sample environments for different soft matter samples using a general carrier platform and unified connectors for software integration and control. This allows for reduced downtimes of instruments related to changing sample environments.

Flexible Sample Environments for the Investigation of Soft Matter at the European Spallation Source: Part III-The Macroscopic Foam Cell

Matthias Kuehnhammer et al.

Summary: The ESS in Lund, Sweden, is set to be the leading neutron source with a focus on SANS experiments. A collaboration between German universities and ESS has resulted in the development of a unified SE system to minimize downtime and ensure efficient experiment setup. The SE for foam SANS experiments has been successfully tested under ESS conditions, allowing control of foam formation, temperature, and measurement position.
