The study reveals that quasi-bound states in the continuum of metasurfaces can provide resonant enhancement of wireless power transfer, and this physical mechanism can also be applied in resonant coupling WPT systems. It is anticipated that the results of this study can be generalized and applied in other physical systems.
Quasi-bound states in the continuum (BICs) of metasurfaces are electromagnetic resonances with a high-quality (Q) factor embedded in a radiative continuum. The magnetic dipole type of the quasi-BIC (quasi-MDBIC) is associated with resonant enhancement of magnetic field near the metasurface. Here we show that the quasi-MDBIC of a compact dielectric metasurface can provide resonant enhancement of wireless power transfer (WPT) to single and multiple receivers. Furthermore, the proposed physical mechanism can also be applied in the resonant coupling WPT systems. It is anticipated that our results can be generalized and applied in other physical systems.
