Functionalized nanoporous graphene membrane with ultrafast and stable nanofiltration

Summary: A functionalized nanoporous graphene (FNG) membrane with ultrafast water permeance and precise molecular separation capability has been developed, surpassing the upper bound of previously reported polymer and two-dimensional material-based nanofiltration membranes through the synergistic effect of nanopores and oxygen-containing groups. The practical operation of the FNG membrane is feasible under cross-flow, with water-flux decline highly suppressed by the presence of abundant nanopores compared to conventional GO membranes.
