Job shop planning and scheduling for manufacturers with manual operations

Summary: This paper presents a new job shop scheduling system based on genetic algorithm, which integrates fuzzy learning and inference subsystem to address unpredictable operation costs, improving efficiency in manual manufacturing operations. The fuzzy subsystem estimates completion time and cost of manual tasks under different conditions, initiated by domain experts, and constantly updated through learning and adaptability. The system has shown promise in experimental study involving a manufacturer of Point of Sale and Point of Purchase products.
