Tissue engineering of collagen scaffolds crosslinked with plant based polysaccharides

Summary: This study focused on creating composite scaffolds of collagen with gum arabic, varying the polysaccharide content by adjusting the oxidation level of gum arabic. The scaffolds showed non-toxic behavior towards mesenchymal stem cells and nucleus pulposa cells, supporting cell growth effectively. These scaffolds have potential applications in tissue engineering and can be customized to match the extracellular matrix requirement of different cell types or tissues.
