Facilitated Activation of Peroxymonosulfate by Loading ZIF-8 on Fe3O4-MnO2 for Deep Mineralization of Bisphenol A

Limei Dong et al.

Summary: The hierarchically structured Fe3O4-MnO2-ZIF-8 composite was successfully synthesized and applied for the first time to activate peroxymonosulfate (PMS) for the degradation of bisphenol A (BPA) and other organic pollutants. The composite showed highly efficient catalytic activity and convenient recyclability for BPA degradation, as well as excellent removal capability for various organic pollutants. The mechanism of PMS activation, intermediates in BPA degradation, and possible degradation pathway were investigated, demonstrating the high efficiency of Fe3O4-MnO2-ZIF-8 as a catalytic material for pollutant removal in water.
