Integrating out new fermions at one loop

Andrei Angelescu et al.

Summary: In this paper, the fermionic universal one-loop effective action obtained by integrating out heavy vector-like fermions at one loop is presented using functional techniques. The direct approach to tackling the fermionic functional determinant allows for a simpler and more transparent computation, while also accounting for chiral interaction terms in a simple, algorithmic way. The obtained results are applied to integrate out vector-like fermions in a toy model and in a fermionic model with strong cosmological phase transitions at one loop.

Functional prescription for EFT matching

Timothy Cohen et al.

Summary: The streamlined prescription developed simplifies the one-loop functional matching formalism, eliminating the need for a prior determination of an Effective Field Theory (EFT) operator basis. It can be applied to any relativistic UV theory that contains generic interactions among scalar, fermion, and vector fields, including derivative couplings. As an example application, it can be used to match the singlet scalar extended Standard Model (SM) onto SMEFT.
