Transferrin receptor 1 plays an important role in muscle development and denervation-induced muscular atrophy

Ying Li et al.

Summary: The study found that in denervated skeletal muscle, transferrin expression was upregulated while TfR1 expression was downregulated. Deletion of TfR1 in early development caused muscular atrophy and early death, while deletion in adult skeletal muscles led to muscle atrophy and motor functional impairment, similar to denervation-induced muscular atrophy.
