Valuation of Metro Crowding Considering Heterogeneity of Route Choice Behaviors

Hosuk Shin et al.

Summary: The metro system in Seoul, South Korea is relied on by over seven million people daily and plays a vital role in connecting passengers to desired locations. Despite the benefits, crowding can significantly impact passengers' travel experience, leading to the need for evaluation and improvement. The study quantifies the level of crowding and its impact on route choice for metro passengers, showing that Seoul metro passengers are more sensitive to crowding than those in other major city metros around the world.
