Multi-Objective Optimization of Process Parameters in Pack Siliconizing on AISI D2 Steel

Summary: This study investigated the formation of silicon coating on AISI D2 steel using the pack siliconizing method. Experimental results showed that increasing time, temperature, and silicon percentage led to an increase in coating thickness, hardness, and silicon content. The optimal combination of parameters, determined through Central Composite design, was found to be 4 hours holding time, 11.744% Si percentage, and 950 degrees Celsius.
