Automating creativity assessment with SemDis: An open platform for computing semantic distance

Roger E. Beaty et al.

Summary: Creativity research often relies on subjective scoring methods which pose challenges in terms of labor cost and subjectivity. This study leveraged natural language processing to quantify semantic relatedness of texts, comparing different semantic models to assess human creativity ratings. The results demonstrate that a semantic distance factor reliably predicts human creativity ratings and correlates with other creativity measures, providing insights into improving creativity assessment methods.
