Regulatory effects of Lactobacillus plantarum-GMNL6 on human skin health by improving skin microbiome

Wan-Hua Tsai et al.

Summary: This study identified that L. plantarum-GMNL6 enhanced collagen synthesis and gene expression, while reducing melanin synthesis, the biofilm of Staphylococcus aureus, and the proliferation of Cutibacterium acnes. Clinical observation showed improvements in skin moisture, color, spots, wrinkles, UV spots, and porphyrins with the use of L. plantarum-GMNL6 ointment for external face use. Smearing volunteers' faces with L. plantarum-GMNL6 affected the diversification of human skin microbiomes. Understanding the potential mechanisms of L. plantarum-GMNL6 in dermatologic conditions promotes the development of care products.
