Characterisation at the Bonding Zone between Fly Ash Based Geopolymer Repair Materials (GRM) and Ordinary Portland Cement Concrete (OPCC)

Warid Wazien Ahmad Zailani et al.

Summary: The study showed that FA-based geopolymer repair materials exhibited high bonding strength in early stages and were not significantly affected by surface treatment roughness. SEM and EDX analysis revealed that the geopolymer repair material chemically bonded to the OPC concrete substrate through the formation of a C-A-S-H gel.

Evaluation of the Effect of Silica Fume on Amorphous Fly Ash Geopolymers Exposed to Elevated Temperature

Ong Huey Li et al.

Summary: The properties of amorphous geopolymer with silica fume addition after heat treatment were rarely reported. Geopolymer with 2% silica fume did not show significant improvement in compressive strength, while 4% decreased it. However, geopolymer with 2% silica fume retained higher compressive strength at 1000 degrees C.

Properties of mortar with fine eggshell powder as partial cement replacement

Chong Beng Wei et al.

Summary: Solid waste management is a major issue in developing countries, including Malaysia. This study focuses on using fine eggshell powder as a partial replacement for cement in mortar. The research shows that incorporating 5% eggshell powder can optimize the compressive and flexural strength of the mortar, while also reducing water absorption compared to the control group. However, eggshell mortar experiences greater weight loss when subjected to acid attack.
