Investigation of Genetic Relatedness of Brucella Strains in Countries Along the Silk Road

Zhiguo Liu et al.

Summary: This study analyzed Brucella strains from 11 countries along the Silk Road using MLVA and WGS-SNP analysis. B. melitensis biovar 3 was found to be the dominant species with a wide distribution, posing a challenge for prevention and surveillance efforts. Shared genotypes were observed mainly within national borders for B. abortus strains, while B. melitensis strains showed a more widespread distribution among different countries.

An epidemiological study of brucellosis on mainland China during 2004-2018

Yu Wang et al.

Summary: Brucellosis has re-emerged in China in recent years, leading to an increasing health burden and economic losses for humans and the livestock industries. The study found that the incidence of human brucellosis has been increasing annually, with characteristics such as being male, aged 45-54 years, working in the livestock industries, and residing in northern provinces of China increasing the risk of contracting the disease.
