Fecal-oral transmission of SARS-CoV-2: review of laboratory-confirmed virus in gastrointestinal system

Dajana Cuicchi et al.

Summary: The study found that a percentage of COVID-19 patients have viral nucleic acid in their stool samples, even after pharyngeal swabs turn negative. Additionally, some patients were found to have SARS-CoV-2 nucleic acid in their gastrointestinal tissues. However, a recent study from Germany did not find live virus in stool samples.
