In-situ TiB2-TiC reinforced Fe-Al composite coating on 6061 aluminum alloy by laser surface modification

Summary: In this study, in-situ TiB2-TiC reinforced Fe-Al composite coatings were fabricated by laser alloying with different Ti contents. The addition of 30 wt. % Ti significantly improved the wear resistance and hardness of the composite coatings, while increasing Ti content resulted in decreased supportability of the metal matrix to the reinforcements, leading to a slight reduction in hardness and wear resistance.
