Measuring Thermal Conductivity in a Microfluidic Device With the Transient Thermal Offset (TTO) Method

Summary: A novel sensor device and sensing method for measuring the thermal conductivity of microliter-sized samples has been proposed, showing high accuracy and rapid testing capabilities. The Transient Thermal Offset (TTO) method, along with a simple resistive sensing structure, enables high-throughput testing and long-time monitoring of liquids inside microchannels. Further miniaturization of the sensor design allows for testing even smaller sample volumes.

Introducing a Thermal-Based Method for Measuring Dynamic Thin Film Thickness in Real Time as a Tool for Sensing Applications

Summary: This article introduces a new thermal-based readout principle, the transient thermal offset (TTO) method, for monitoring physical changes in thin samples. By deviating from the conditions of the widely used transient plane source (TPS) method, this method uses the properties of the sample on top of the film as a reference and can reliably monitor physical changes in thin films through novel data processing methods.
