Pore pressure cohesive zone modelling of complex hydraulic fracture propagation in a permeable medium

Guoxing Xiang et al.

Summary: A pore pressure cohesive zone method (PCZM) is proposed for simulating complex hydraulic fracturing processes in permeable poroelastic media. Through a shared node scheme of cohesive elements, arbitrary fracture propagation and fluid flow at intersections are considered. The PCZM can accurately predict complex hydraulic fractures and provide a useful method for studying hydraulic fracturing mechanisms.

Using artificial neural network to predict the fracture properties of the interfacial transition zone of concrete at the meso-scale

Summary: This study predicts the fracture properties of the ITZ in concrete using artificial neural network (ANN) method, showing that the trained ANN model performs well and has good agreement with experimental results. It is found that the randomness of aggregates has minimal effect on the predicted ITZ tensile strength but slightly bigger effect on the predicted ITZ fracture energy.
