Investigation of the toxicological and inhibitory effects of some benzimidazole agents on acetylcholinesterase and butyrylcholinesterase enzymes

Fikret Turkan

Summary: The study investigated the inhibitory effects of benzimidazole drugs on AChE and BChE enzymes, showing that these compounds can inhibit both enzymes at the nanomolar level in a non-competitive manner. The compound with the highest inhibition of AChE was ricobendazole, while thiabendazole was the most effective in inhibiting BChE. The IC50 and K-i values were calculated for each drug, providing insights into the mechanisms of inhibition.

Determination of anticancer properties and inhibitory effects of some metabolic enzymes including acetylcholinesterase, butyrylcholinesterase, alpha-glycosidase of some compounds with molecular docking study

Fikret Turkan et al.

Summary: The study showed that the complexes had inhibitory effects on some metabolic enzymes at the micromolar level, with the cobalt complex exhibiting the best inhibition for alpha-glycosidase. Among the compounds, the Zr compound showed the most significant cytotoxic activity against MCF-7 cells. The SM ligand administered to PC-3 cells exhibited a more pronounced cytotoxic effect than the SM-Co and Zr compounds.

Benzenesulfonamide derivatives as potent acetylcholinesterase, α-glycosidase, and glutathione S-transferase inhibitors: biological evaluation and molecular docking studies

Parham Taslimi et al.

Summary: Sulfonamide derivatives have a wide range of biological activities and potential as medical molecules in drug development. Studies have shown that these compounds have an impact on various enzymes. The synthesized derivatives demonstrate inhibitory effects on AChE, GST, and α-GLY enzymes, with stronger inhibition observed at lower concentrations through the addition of functional electronegative groups.

Synthesis, antioxidant, DNA cleavage and antimicrobial properties of phthalocyanine complexes bearing the poly-hydroxyl groups

Mehmet Salih Agirtas et al.

Summary: The BHHP compound was synthesized and its metal complexes were prepared. Quantum chemical studies revealed their good antioxidant properties. Compound 6 and compound 4 exhibited high free radical inhibition and metal chelating activity, respectively. Moreover, all tested phthalocyanine compounds showed excellent antimicrobial and DNA cleavage activities.
