The bionic laser surface treatment on H13 steel can significantly improve its service life. The microstructure and microhardness of the laser alloying zone of H13 steel were refined and increased with increasing TiC fraction. Tensile strength gradually increased with higher TiC fraction, while wear resistance showed an initially increasing and then decreasing trend.
In order to further improve the service life of H13 steel, bionic laser surface treatment was performed on the surface of H13 steel. The mechanical properties and microstructures of H13 steel processed by bionic laser surface alloying with different fractions of TiC particulates were investigated. With increasing TiC fraction, the microstructure and microhardness of laser alloying zone were further refined and increased. The tensile strength increased gradually with increasing TiC fraction. The fracture characteristics were also affected by the particulate fraction. The wear resistance increased first and then decreased with increasing TiC fraction. In addition, the enhancement mechanisms of mechanical properties are discussed.
