Highly Sensitive Reconfigurable Plasmonic Metasurface with Dual-Band Response for Optical Sensing and Switching in the Mid-Infrared Spectrum

Summary: In this study, a plasmonic metasurface optical refractive index sensor was designed using organic material with reconfigurable attributes for the mid-infrared spectral region. The sensor achieved a high sensitivity and switching characteristics by utilizing parasitic elements as plasmonic absorbers to reduce reflection and concentrate energy. The use of organic materials also improved the figure of merit (FOM) and sensitivity of the sensor due to their distinct switching characteristics.
