Summary: The development of a highly specific apoptosis labeling nanoparticle (IONP-Neu-PSA) with a magnetic iron oxide core conjugated with PSA as a tumor targeting ligand shows promise for prolonged in vivo apoptosis imaging. The nanoparticle demonstrated minimal cytotoxicity, high labeling specificity, and prolonged tracking ability in tracking apoptotic tumors for two weeks under near-IR imaging. Additionally, it possesses T-2 contrast enhancing properties that may enable apoptosis detection by MRI, making it a versatile tool for cancer treatment monitoring and pathological research.
