3D kinematics and age distribution of the open cluster population

Y. Tarricq et al.

Summary: This study analyzed the kinematic behavior of OC population over time and the rotation curve of the Milky Way traced by OCs using data from Gaia satellite and ground-based surveys. It found differences in velocity distribution and clear anisotropy in velocity ellipsoids of OCs compared to field stars. Additionally, the heating rate of OC population showed variations in different components, while the orbital characteristics of OCs were similar to those of field stars.

Proplyds in the flame nebula NGC 2024

Thomas J. Haworth et al.

Summary: A recent survey of the NGC 2024 star-forming region found two distinct millimeter continuum disc populations, separated by a dense cloud boundary. The eastern population, older but less evaporated, is influenced by IRS 2b, while the western population is affected by both IRS 1 and IRS 2b. The discovery of external photoevaporation in proplyds confirms the impact of this process on disc evolution within the region.

Understanding the Impacts of Stellar Companions on Planet Formation and Evolution: A Survey of Stellar and Planetary Companions within 25 pc

Lea A. Hirsch et al.

Summary: The study found that planets with masses in the range of 0.1-10MJ and with semimajor axes of 0.1-10 au have occurrence rates of 0.18 and 0.12 planets per star in single and binary systems, respectively. Interestingly, the distribution of planets in wide binary systems differs from that in single star systems, highlighting the potential role of binary-mediated planet migration.

The Impact of Stellar Clustering on the Observed Multiplicity and Orbital Periods of Planetary Systems

Steven N. Longmore et al.

Summary: Recent studies have shown that stellar clustering significantly impacts the multiplicity and orbital period distributions of planetary systems. Stars in high stellar phase space density environments have a higher number of single-planet systems compared to stars in low-density regions, primarily due to the presence of hot Jupiters. Environmental perturbations in overdensities may be responsible for the Kepler dichotomy, where systems with a single transiting planet appear in excess. Additionally, orbital periods of single-planet systems are shorter in overdensities, indicating a potential enhancement of environmental effects on planetary formation and evolution.

The TW Hya Rosetta Stone Project. III. Resolving the Gaseous Thermal Profile of the Disk

Jenny K. Calahan et al.

Summary: The study focuses on constraining the thermal structure of the protoplanetary disk TW Hya using CO line images, finding that CO alone is not a viable mass tracer due to degeneracy with total H-2 surface density. Different mass models can readily match spatially resolved CO line profiles.

Orbital eccentricity-multiplicity correlation for planetary systems and comparison to the Solar system

Nanna Bach-Moller et al.

Summary: This study reveals a power-law correlation between multiplicity and orbital eccentricities in planetary systems, with the eccentricities of the Solar system fitting the general trend. The outlier in this correlation is consistently the one-planet systems, which may be due to unseen additional exoplanets. Based on this assumption and the power-law correlation, the probability of a system having eight planets or more is estimated to be around 1%, in line with recent predictions.
