Life after eruption VIII: The orbital periods of novae

I Fuentes-Morales et al.

Summary: The impact of nova eruptions on the long-term evolution of Cataclysmic Variables (CVs) remains one of the least understood topics in the field. By establishing a large sample of post-novae with known properties and revising the orbital periods of old novae, researchers found that the angular momentum loss for CVs above the period gap is still not completely understood. Both empirical and classical models failed to reproduce the peak in the 3-4 hour range, suggesting a gap in current understanding.
