Combination of Siderophore-Producing Bacteria and Piriformospora indica Provides an Efficient Approach to Improve Cadmium Tolerance in Alfalfa

Mozhgan Sepehri et al.

Summary: The application of siderophore-producing microorganisms (SPMs) has been shown to enhance plant growth and survival under heavy metals toxicity, particularly in response to cadmium (Cd) stress. SPMs, including bacteria and fungi, were found to improve the fitness of alfalfa by increasing biomass and nutrient uptake, mitigating Cd-induced oxidative stress through enhanced antioxidant enzyme activities. Overall, plant-associated microbes present an efficient and environmentally friendly approach to help plants survive in Cd-contaminated soil.

Endophytic Bacillus, Enterobacter, and Klebsiella enhance the growth and yield of maize

Amr M. Mowafy et al.

Summary: Endophytic bacteria isolated from Triticum vulgare and Phragmites australis showed significant growth-stimulating effects on maize seedlings. Among the identified isolates, Klebsiella MK2R2, Bacillus B2L2, and Enterobacter E1S2 demonstrated compatibility as biostimulants for maize, enhancing maize growth and yield in field experiments with or without N fertilisation.

Cadmium Accumulation and Kinetics in Solea senegalensis Tissues under Dietary and Water Exposure and the Link to Human Health

Maria D. Pavlaki et al.

Summary: The study found that cadmium accumulation in different tissues of Solea senegalensis followed the order of muscle, gills, liver, and intestine when exposed to cadmium-contaminated diet and water. After 14 days of uptake, muscle showed lower cadmium accumulation, with the intestine having the highest uptake flux. Cadmium depuration from the liver was not detected, indicating a possible storage compartment for cadmium in Solea senegalensis.
