Prevalence of antibiotic-resistant organisms among hospitalized patients at a tertiary care center in Lebanon, 2010-2018

Moustafa Moussally et al.

Summary: The study describes the temporal trends of resistance of selected pathogens among hospitalized patients at a tertiary care center in Lebanon. Data show that CRAB decreased significantly from 2013 to 2018, while CREC, MRSA, and VRE showed statistically significant increasing temporal trends. These findings are helpful in characterizing and controlling antimicrobial resistance epidemiology in Lebanon.

A Review on Stems Composition and Their Impact on Wine Quality

Marie Blackford et al.

Summary: Research has shown that using grape stems has the potential to enhance the aromatic complexity and freshness of wines, but there is a lack of specific studies on the impact of compounds extracted from stems. Various factors, such as grape variety, stem state, and incorporation method, influence the effect of stems on wine quality.

Bioactive Compounds from Vine Shoots, Grape Stalks, and Wine Lees: Their Potential Use in Agro-Food Chains

Marica Troilo et al.

Summary: The winemaking sector produces significant amounts of by-products with high environmental impacts, prompting research on their reuse in the agro-food chain. Grape by-products such as vine shoots, grape stalks, and wine lees are rich sources of functional and bioactive compounds, making them suitable alternatives to common oenological additives and for applications against food pathogens. These by-products have the potential to be recycled as functional additives in different products, supporting the sustainability of the winemaking industry.
