Filtrated Adipose Tissue-Derived Mesenchymal Stem Cell Lysate Ameliorates Experimental Acute Colitis in Mice

Takahiro Nishikawa et al.

Summary: Continuous administration of filtrated murine adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cell lysate (FADSTL) significantly improved weight loss and disease activity index (DAI) score compared to single dose administration in an acute colitis mouse model. FADSTL treatment also suppressed colon shortening, histological inflammation, decreased gene expression of inflammatory mediators, maintained tight junction proteins expression in the colon, and showed anti-apoptotic effects. The efficacy of FADSTL was dependent on dosing frequency, suggesting the requirement of continuous administration for treating colitis.

Preparation and biological activities of chitosan oligosaccharides

Gunsriwiang Benchamas et al.

Summary: Chitosan oligosaccharides (COSs) have various beneficial biological activities and potential in disease treatment and prevention, including antimicrobial, antitumor, immunoregulatory, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory effects. Compared to chitin, COSs have superior properties and development prospects, but the research on their preparation and mechanism of action is still not deep enough.

A Purified Glucomannan Oligosaccharide from Amorphophallus konjac Improves Colonic Mucosal Barrier Function via Enhancing Butyrate Production and Histone Protein H3 and H4 Acetylation

Hao Cui et al.

Summary: The structurally defined konjac glucomannan oligosaccharide (KGMOS) with specific molecular sizes showed beneficial effects on colonic functions in mice by regulating intestinal microflora composition to facilitate butyrate production, enhancing histone acetylation, and promoting mucin secretion, thus improving gut health through a new molecular mechanism.
