A mesoporous crystalline material with zinc metal-organic framework structure, Cu/Zn-mMOF/GCE, was synthesized by electrochemical method for electrochemical sensing of amoxicillin. The modified electrode exhibited high electrocatalytic activity towards amoxicillin oxidation, making it a promising sensor for real sample analysis.
In this study, a mesoporous crystalline material including zinc metal?organic framework (Zn-mMOF) structure as a platform material synthesized by electrochemical method on glassy carbon electrode (GCE) and incorporated with copper ions by a simple chemical method, Cu/Zn-mMOF/GCE, was introduced for electrodetermination of the amoxicillin (AMOX). After physicochemical characterization of the modified electrode, it was used as an electrocatalyst toward oxidation of AMOX in 0.1 M NaOH solution. The Cu/Zn-mMOF/GCE showed high electrocatalytic activity for oxidation of AMOX with large catalytic rate constant; Kcat = 3.9 ? 105 cm3 mol-1 s- 1. The obtained results indicated that the incorporation of the Cu(II) ions plays an important role in the electrochemical and electrocatalytic activities of the Cu/Zn-mMOF/GCE for the oxidation of AMOX. The proposed modified electrode as a sensor exhibits excellent performances including a wide linear response range (1.0?205 ?M), low detection limit (0.36 ?M), high sensitivity (0.0256 ?A ?M-1 cm-2), high stability, short time response, and excellent reproducibility. The developed sensor was successfully applied for determination of AMOX in real samples.
