High-speed hybrid laser-arc welding (HS-HLAW) was used to ensure the strength of the AA5083 alloy weld, demonstrating reduced porosity and insignificant magnesium evaporation in the laser melting zones. The weld metal strength reaches 98.9% of the initial material strength under the optimized heat input.
High-speed hybrid laser-arc welding (HS-HLAW) at welding speed 6.5 and 7 m/min was used to ensure the strength of the AA5083 alloy weld. The structure and tensile properties of the welds were investigated depending on the heat input during the welding process. It has been shown that the unsteady process of HS-HLAW succeeds the reduced porosity of the weld down to 0.1% of the fusion zone area and insignificant magnesium evaporation in the laser melting zones (0.1%). The strength of the weld metal reaches 98.9% of the initial material strength. (c) 2021 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
