This study reports the synthesis of hybrid ZnO/polyvinyl-pyrrolidone hemispheres under microwave irradiation, which exhibit intense UV and negligible visible emission, making them suitable for blue optoelectronic applications. The formation mechanism of ZnO hemispheres is investigated.
