Photobiomodulation exerts anti-inflammatory effects on the vascular and cellular phases of experimental inflammatory models

Mariana de Souza Costa et al.

Summary: Photobiomodulation therapy (PBMT) is a non-thermal therapeutic procedure used in clinical practice for treating various inflammatory conditions with fewer adverse effects compared to conventional therapy. This study investigated the effects of two different doses of PBMT on experimental models of inflammation, showing that 1 J/cm(2) of PBMT improved paw edema and reduced histological scores induced by phlogistic agents. PBMT at 1 J/cm(2) also demonstrated beneficial effects on carrageenan-induced edema and inhibited neutrophil migration.

Evaluating the bio-application of biomacromolecule of lignin-carbohydrate complexes (LCC) from wheat straw in bone metabolism via ROS scavenging

Liming Zheng et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that LCC-A has higher ROS scavenging ability for inhibiting osteoclast differentiation, while LCC-B promotes osteoblast differentiation through the antioxidant pathway, particularly in an inflammatory environment. Therapeutic administration of both LCC-A and LCC-B shows positive effects in regulating bone metabolism and preventing calvaria impairment.

Sulfated polysaccharides from Undaria pinnatifida improved high fat diet-induced metabolic syndrome, gut microbiota dysbiosis and inflammation in BALB/c mice

Pingrui Jiang et al.

Summary: Undaria pinnatifida has shown positive effects on reducing serum lipids and fat accumulation, as well as improving type 2 diabetes. This study demonstrated that sulfated polysaccharides from U. pinnatifida can reduce weight gain, fat accumulation, and metabolic disorders in mice fed with a high-fat diet, while also improving gut microbiota dysbiosis and reducing metabolic endotoxemia. The dose of UPSP has a relationship with its effects on physiological indexes, gut microbiota community, and nutrient utilization.

Fucoidan Structure and Its Impact on Glucose Metabolism: Implications for Diabetes and Cancer Therapy

Blessing Mabate et al.

Summary: Fucoidans are complex polysaccharides derived from brown seaweeds with reported bioactive characteristics such as antidiabetic and anticancer properties. However, the understanding of the structure and biological activity of fucoidan remains unclear. Limited data exists on the dual chemotherapeutic efforts for the link between diabetes and cancer.

Anti-inflammatory effects of Fritillaria thunbergii Miquel extracts in LPS-stimulated murine macrophage RAW 264.7 cells

Jae-Hyun Kim et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that Fritillaria thunbergii Miquel extract inhibits the expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines by suppressing ERK/JNK phosphorylation and NF-kappa B translocation. Additionally, the extract exerts antioxidant effects through Nrf2/HO-1 activation.

Anti-inflammatory effect of leaves of Vernonia zeylanica in lipopolysaccharide-stimulated RAW 264.7 macrophages and carrageenan-induced rat paw-edema model

Dilani Rukshala et al.

Summary: The study investigated the anti-inflammatory activity of Vernonia zeylanica methanol/dichloromethane extract by assessing inhibition of rat paw edema, NO and superoxide production, and iNOS gene expression. The results demonstrated potent anti-inflammatory activity of the extract, emphasizing the need for further purification and isolation of bioactive compounds.
