The normal impingement of the rotational stagnation-point flow of Agrawal (1957) on a liquid layer is studied. Results are compared with the work of Wang (1985) who studied the normal impingement of the classic Homann (1936) stagnation-point flow on a liquid layer which results in a family of solutions dependent on beta, the nondimensional velocity at the interface. In the present case there arises a family of solutions dependent on both alpha and beta, where a is the cube root of the ratio of kinematic viscosity of the oncoming stagnation fluid to that of the quiescent liquid layer. Results are given for the upper layer interfacial shear stress as a function of beta. Lower layer interfacial shear stress results and the axial flow induced in the lower liquid layer are given as a function of alpha. Sample dimensionless velocity profiles are presented for radial and axial flows in both layers. (C) 2015 Elsevier Masion SAS. All rights reserved.
